England Squash’s response to the COVID-19 situation

To the England Squash community

At England Squash, the safety and wellbeing of the squash community is of utmost importance to us. Given the evolving COVID-19 situation, we have listened to advice from the Government, and Sport England and are basing our response on the best interests of everyone involved in the sport.

To highlight some of the action we are taking:

  • All England Squash junior circuit competitions are suspended until 24 April
  • The Masters Inter-County Championships and the National Schools finals are postponed
  • The junior 5 Nations competition this month has been cancelled
  • Junior England Teams have been withdrawn from competition until the end of April
  • Talent and Performance squads have been cancelled until the end of April

Please note that there are no plans, at this stage, to cancel small scale activity, including coaching courses. Decisions relating to county league competition and other localised team squash will be made by, and are the responsibility of, county associations and local organisers.

We encourage everyone involved in squash in England to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of infection by following Public Health England and government guidance. Information on the current recommendations is available on the NHS.UK website and the Public Health England blog.

Anyone who has been advised to self-isolate as a result of developing symptoms and/or recent international travel to destinations specified by the Government, should not take part in any squash activities for the duration of the self-isolation period. For further information see the GOV.UK website and the NHS.UK website.

For up-to-date information and the latest updates on how COVID-19 affects the squash community, please visit our dedicated web page. Alternatively, you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook where we’ll share relevant updates. We will be in touch with all relevant groups as, and when, new advice and information changes England Squash’s position.
